Everprep - EdTech Platform
Technical strategy and platform architecture for EdTech startup.

EdTech Platform Architecture & Engineering Leadership (Everprep)
I defined the technical strategy and led end-to-end execution for Everprep’s EdTech product portfolio, establishing both the core learning platform architecture and the engineering operating model from inception. This role combined hands-on system design with organizational leadership, ensuring the platform was secure, scalable, and compliant from day one while enabling rapid product iteration.
Learner Record Store Architecture
At the center of the platform, I architected and built the Learner Record Store the system of record responsible for tracking student learning activity, progress, and regulatory compliance data across courses and programs.
Key characteristics of the system included: • Secure ingestion of learning events from web and mobile experiences • Canonical learner data models supporting spaced repetition, adaptive learning, and personalized learning paths • Fine-grained access controls to protect student data and comply with educational privacy requirements • Auditability and historical tracking to support compliance and reporting needs
The system was designed as an mobile-first service, enabling seamless integration with learning content, assessment models, and reporting tools.
Security, Privacy & Compliance by Design
Given the sensitivity of educational and compliance data, the platform was built with security and privacy as first-class concerns: • Encryption in transit and at rest for all learner records • Role-based access control (RBAC) for administrators, instructors, and learners • Immutable audit logs to support accreditation and regulatory review • Data retention and archival policies aligned with compliance requirements
These controls ensured trust with institutional partners and learners alike.
Engineering Team Formation & Operating Model
In parallel with platform delivery, I recruited and mentored the founding engineering team, setting a strong technical and cultural foundation.
Key initiatives included: • Hiring and onboarding full-stack and platform engineers aligned to product goals • Establishing agile delivery rituals (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) • Implementing CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, frequent deployments • Defining coding standards, code review practices, and automated testing expectations
This operating model enabled the team to ship production-grade software quickly while maintaining high quality and reliability.
Business & Product Impact
This work resulted in: • A scalable, secure foundation for Everprep’s learning products • Real-time visibility into learner progress and compliance status • Faster product iteration enabled by modern DevOps practices • A high-performing engineering team aligned around shared standards and ownership
By combining platform architecture with early engineering leadership, Everprep launched with a strong technical backbone and a team capable of sustained innovation.
